I've put this post here because I think it's in the general interest of all players.
Following on from a thread in nandd, a bad table with a bad roll or rip in the cloth or tight bag, is it the same for both players? If it is stop moaning and get on with!

I made a statement about better players being able to adapt to rubbish tables quicker and that's why they are the better players. Ron Sharpe ridiculed this so what's general opinion?

Maybe Liam could make a comment being Notts current England team member. I've  heard him state this exact opinion before.

Better pool tables produce better play.A bad table is the same for both players but the conditions may affect one player more than an other.

Completely agree with that matey.
Thats a very diplomatic answer Liam but doesn't answer the question posed.

Not sure if my opinion counts as i am not a current England player or a County player just a mediocre CADPL player but i will give it anyway.I would say if a table is bad it is obviously
the same for both players but at the end of the day if your are a better player and win on a crap table thats because you are a better player nothing to do with the table and nothing to do with adapting quicker thats just ridiculous,if i play this England fellow on the Eagle table where i play regular, there is a good chance the man will regularly beat me whether he knows about the rolls or not,but if you lose to a lesser player because of a bad roll at a crucial time that dont make the other man better.I think you will find a good player including the super stars will defo practice on a good table and not a ripped up tight bagged rolling piece of crap because in my opinion playing on a good table will improve your game alot faster than a bad one, if your statement was right about a good player adapting quicker then why dont all tournaments use old crappy tables because the best player in your opinion will come through it as champion and us lesser mortals will have to go back to the eagle and practice a lot harder on our crap table to get better.

This all came about because I gave a bit of advice about playing on bad tables.
Ady, i've not stated that players should play on bad tables that would certainly see the game ruined!
At the end of the day players should not moan about tables being bad all the time because they are down Rileys all the time where the tables are very good and I personally love. You can't go wrong with the supreme winner and that's why the tour and Yarmouth use these all the time.

I wanted to see Liam's opinion because i've heard him say the same thing before. On the flip of it I think more mediocre or average or players who go out for the crack should be putting there opinions across more because Notts pool is a like, if your a lesser player then your opinion doesn't count as shown with how my other posts are treated.
Your totally right about practicing on a good table. But what if you practiced on a good table with very tight bags now that's gonna improve your potting without a doubt.

How about if I put 'the better players learn the roll of the table quicker'?

Bill Rigby could be a good one to ask as he has been playing since it was played on grass!

If you practice on a good table with tight pockets i am sure as well this will help your game but tables with ridiculous rolls changes everything matey and is not good for anyone, they should all be changed from any pub or club where serious pool is played,i have lost my last 2 league games due to bad tables and one of them  was an home game but as you said its the same for both of us,the only problem with this is sometimes you have to play a slow shot and if its to a place the table rolls what do you do? what if that shot is the only option to stay in the game?see what i mean everything changes some times a firmer shot wont give the desired outcome! and its sods law that it will be my shot at the Roley end..lol

Sometimes you do not get chance to learn the roll of a table or a tight pocket,it is too late you have lost the game. Also i played on a table for 2 hours and not found a roll, then all of a sudden you find a roll which was there all the time but haven't played a shot like you have on that part of the table. Not nessessarily do better players pick it up quicker but i would say more experienced players do,there is a slight difference.

Which category do you put yourself in knife,a better player or an experienced player i ask this because you say that you played for 2 hours and never found the roll!!!.I aint having a go i just cant agree! what is the difference? recently we played the Cherry Tree at the Eagle and Guru who has masses of experience struggled on a very poor table as did Mr Wyatt the same masses of experience and both "better players" as you say,so the combination of being a good player with plenty of experience didnt do them any favours they struggled on a bad table!
Can you see my point? basically if the table is bad then everyone struggles on it and know one wants to play on them to be fair!!!!
I practice at spot on Hucknall with Nobby Clarke and Steve Hotchkiss both experienced quality players neither of them will come and practice at the Eagle where we get it for FREE because of the state of the table, i dont know about you but i struggle to transform my form from a good table to a bad one(maybe its confidence or a lack of it knowing the table is crap)

Liam I think you're just trying to back your mate Ron up. So I may of worded it a bit wrong but I am right in what i'm saying in principle from the answers put forward.
So Ron was it such a naive statement to put in the first place?

No one likes to play on bad tables.
It's the same for both players.
In an ideal world every pub club would have the best table in the world.
I think players should just get on with it and stop moaning about tables, in the case of some pubs it's lucky they are open at all!

And you are?

Thanks for the great input obviously a great player with that wonderful insight.

Would be nice to know why you think i'm a nobody? Is this in general as a person or as a pool pundit?

Hang on, I bet you play in Rons side.

Just been going over a few of your comments NFFC and i have come to the conclusion that SMASHEM must be right with the clown comment
you wrote.....No maybe not a bad shot on a good table. Bad shot selection on a bad table? Would it of rolled off if you had hit it harder? and you also wrote...playing on good tables all the time won't make you an all round good player, just good on the good tables.
You see my point kid absolutely ridiculous comments that make no sense what so ever are you really this clueless?? my advice would be stick to playing pool and stop writing about it because your comments make no sense to anyone with the slightest ability at pool
Sorry if you think this is a bit harsh mate but those two statements are ridiculous!!!!!

"I bet it was so tense yesterday with all those egos in one room, prancing around like peacocks, look at me, look at me i'm so good at pool. Then they slowly deflate as the staffs superior team puncture the notts hypocritical minds. Did the banter not work for you yesterday lads?"
Puts this on then wants to get into debate with people about pool matters.
I dont think so mate, whoever you are

Who is this bloke Al,
in my opinion an embarrassment to Nottingham Pool, you dont slate your own County players you should be behind them, please dont tell me he plays in CADPL surely not with that attitude to other players and please tell me he is from the YMCA smoking crack through an home made crack pipe because his comments are straight from a scizophenic, maladjusted social misfits nightmares one minute he is trying to have a serious debate the next "well" the next its like he needs sectioning this is one crazy bloke the site can do without
