Hi I was wondering if someone had to be there for presentation night to pick up trophies and prize money? I have been told you have to be there to collect it, but I've also been told you don't have to.

I'ts just that I was supposed to pick up the prize money for Masters but I don't think I will be able to make it, and no-one else from our team is going and I don't want to forfeit our money.

If someone could clarify this for me that would be great.

Cheers

Forfeit prize money!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't think that will happen Matt.

What else are you going to do? Stick it in your back pocket?
Ridiculous that this question needs to be asked and your reply was even more ridiculous.
Stop being daft and give the man his money, whether he turns up or not. Jesus.

Surely Mark you must be on the nobble? Matt will not get his money if he doesn't turn up to presentation night? Then ffs I give up. Its just too daft to laugh at.  smile/mad.gif

I'm sorry Mark after all the hard work over the last few days you are going to upset people with statements like that.
I have raised this issue before when our mixed pairs(Lee Smith and Pam David) couldnt turn up on the night and received nothing for their efforts.
If its in the rules then lets see them published, what happens to the prizemoney ?? smile/mad.gif

It doesn't really matter now because Bill is going to collect the cash.

But I do think if someone pays to enter a competition then they should receive the prize money without being told where and when to collect it.

i can remember a time when losers went to presentation night. whats changed? maybe people felt like they enjoyed what they were involved in and didn't feel obliged to justify the whole set up. if i dont make it tomorow may i take this oppurtunity to thank everyone who put money into the league.

why does a bowler need a manager !

Those were the days when people used to go for the night out.
Clinton rooms, Clifton miners... aah the memories come flooding back; chairs being thrown over peoples heads, sporadic fights, trophies being used as cudgels, dwarf throwing and the league secretary's tyres (all 4 of em) slashed!

Yes. But it been like this for last 5 year very few turn up on friday presentation night with Sun Vally and Nott's open pool league. If you say school night? Then why lot of player can play on thursday night finish at 10.30pm to 12am still have 2 to 4 pints. It be same as finish on Presentation night.
