Ballsmania Report Sunday 27th Sept 09
CADPL Interleague side clinched a 11-7 win in a rearranged game against close rivals Notts and District to leapfrog them into 2nd place, Man of the match was veteran Garry Sherwood who pipped rising star Danny Butler.
This weeks round of matches saw a 2nd string Railway side hold the league title favourites to a 6-6 draw, there was nothing of any interest to report and the refereeing was of its usual very high standard !
Ex Service pulled off the surprise of the week taking 3-0 and 5-2 leads over Champs Cherry Tree A, however a fightback from Taylors terriers resulted in clawing it back to 6-5 only for Ex Service to concede the last frame due to no more players resulting in a 6-6 draw, Ian “the body” Owen continued his unbeaten sequence and Steve Blower continues his perfect start to the season 3/3
Victory club overcame the Major Oak 7-5 despite another win for top of the averages 3/3 Dale Nix who has proved you can progress from Div 2, others who have failed will remain nameless.
Div 2 early leaders Longbow A win 6-3 at the Eagle who are still finding their feet, Balfour club with 3 wins also destroyed Longbow regulars 7-2 with Craptain Bradbury looking to complete the double with his new look side.
Cherry Tree B beat the Carlton Lib 6-3 helped by the Elliott brothers who are both unbeaten closely followed by 2/2 Andybehindthebar – yes folks its fact and not a misprint
Depleted Arnold Liberal, missing the Reilleys pulled off a cracking 7-2 win at Calvo top club 7-2 to kick start their campaign.
The Div 1 table is closely bunched up with 1 point separating top and bottom however early leaders Chequers and Cherry Tree have a game in hand.
This weeks action sees Chequers entertain Ex Service, Eagle@Friar v Victory and Major Oak v Cherry A Railway take a break.
Competition deadline has been extended to Oct 3rd, can everyone please send or email sheets in by this date please.
