Lets just say you are the county captain for the 'A' side, who would you have in it if you could choose any Notts players?

Heres mine, in no particular order,

1. Lee Howitt
2. Clint I'Anson
3. Andy Bingham
4. Bayden Jackson
5. Liam Stanley
6. Scott Higgins
7. Gary McCleod
8. Neal Jones
9. Jason Rimmington
10. Nick Jones
11. Kev Seaman

'B' side just for fun

1. Loz Sanderson
2. Lee Pickard
3. Chris Rigby
4. John Harvey
5. Ian Owen
6. Dave Atherley
7. James Hill
8. Ron Sharpe
9. Andy Wilson
10. Ashley Radford
11. Marcus Langford

Hey the ladies too lol

1. Deb Burchell
2. Paula Smith
3. Andrea Smith
4. Kerry Griffiths
5. Deb Ballam
6. Allison Hallford
7. Kerry Hall
8. Tara Jackson

10. Diane Keeton
11. Sarah Taylor

Would these 3 teams finish top of the region? Obviously not reality but a bit of fun.

You don't look anything like "Neal" Jones, Ron, and for starters you can drink a lot better.

The A team shown above looks like the A team from some years ago. Do I think they could win region 3? No. Giving four points a match away before you start would be too much even for these players. You need eleven players lol.
p.s. Where would you put Kev Seamen? Kev is quality and served Notts Ateam well for many years.

Let the A Team start the new season with the players who have played most games for them this season, i.e.;

Clint I’Anson
Liam Stanley
Neil Jones
Jed Eaton
Steve Hotchkiss
James Hill
Ian Owen
Chris Rigby
Wayne Parsonage
Bill Rigby
Lee Pickard

and then tell them they are guaranteed their A Team place for the season thus enabling my new B Team to walk away with the Region 3 title.

Dave Atherley
Andy Bingham
Danny Butler
Joe Etherington
John Harvey
Andy Leese
Martin Lovett
Ashley Radford
Simon Thompson
Tony Wyatt
Glenn Yates

Subs;
Ady Dawes
Ryan Hewitt
Mark Taylor

Dont think Glen Yates, Tommo and Lovett are not good enough. Atherley and Donut easily better than Body. This is just based on how they have played against me not past triumphs in comps.

So let me get this straight, you're agreeing with me then since I don't think Glenn, Thomo and Lovenest are not good enough either, that's why I stuck them in.

I must, however, bow to your insightful thought process as to how to rate players. Maybe every team captain should now pick players based on how they perform in the odd game that they personally face them in and pay absolutely no regard to their playing record and competition wins/progress earned over a number of years. In fact, thinking about it, I beat Clint earlier this year, so there's no way I'll be approaching him to play Superleague next year, he's rubbish!

Tommo and Martin are coming to trials. Glen Yates, Dave Atherley, I have already invited last season and this season along with just about every other name that has been mentioned. But, most have no ambitions of playing County pool at this moment in time. So as you can see, it is not as simple as just putting up a list of names. I don't see your point when you say Dave and Ashley are both better than Ian, because they don't compete against each other on match days. So why does it matter who is best?

For me it's a player's performance over a season in all comps that shows their talent as I've mentioned previously. Having said that, I think County lends itself to a certain type of player. If we want to win County next season we have to have a team of dedicated players who play and practice regularly (I mean very regularly).  Staffs do, Leics do, we don't.

Right I'm off to get some practice.  Cheerio!

It's a wash kid....you're in Atlantic City now, not back in the Stock Room playing with baby dolls.
