Yes both squads now almost at their strongest. Perhaps the trial format should be told to folk before the season starts so they know what they have to do to avoid re-trialling next year? Always an incentive for some folk and perhaps too many were retained, making it extremely diificult to qualify from the trials, 46 (probably 20 or so that would grace any County B team)to 10 places Good Luck to all teams |

Yes, that one was a bit of a dilemma. Problem is if we had made the cut off for player average targets just 10% higher, then you virtually remove the entire B team and hence take away the backbone of players who you know will not let you down throughout a season. Also, nobody returning under a 50% win rate was retained, so I believe the balance was just about right, even though as you say there was a remarkably good field of trialists on Sunday. As for target levels for next year, yes, we could say 55% or 60%win rate for B players as a target. The only problem here is players may get bogged down playing against a target rather than their opponent. The loyalty points target I completely agree with and hence why I brought it in last year. I agree this year we should use this as a goal for players. Plenty to think about though Tony and I appreciate your feedback. --Last edited by WildAngus on 2009-01-13 08:52:19 --

Most counties who have trials only allow 2-4 players to qualify. We opened it up due to the amount of quality who wanted to trial.Needless to say though if you finish in the lower half of the B team then your place is up for grabs. |

no one is going to rest on their laurels this year, trust me. i think last year the competitive edge was missing from Notts b, mainly because the system tied my hands regarding team selection. i will say here and now that the performance of the team will come above everything and if anyone wants to know how to get a regular pick in the side then heres a secret,WIN. i know there will be bad beats and as much as i will take bad luck stories into consideration when players are close in the averages, ultimately it will be a results business. i would ask people that unfortunately have to bide their time to get a run in the side to be patient, you will all get your chance to keep your place, you dont have to be prof Hawking to work out that a team consists of 11 places (we have 17 in the squad) ask anyone who played under me before last season and they will tell you i am fare but will stick to my guns and not pander to any self centered attitudes so if your thinking this is going to be all about 'you' then dont bother coming, sorry if i sound a bit ruthless but after the last 2 seasons i cant handle making the numbers up any longer, we have a great squad and i expect to win, we nearly won the title a couple of years back(one black away) i believe we have a stronger squad now and would love the team spirit to get back to what it was then. your all their on merit and watching the trials on sunday i was quite proud of our county setup, remember just being in that side on sunday is a very good achievment regardless of anything else. so come on lads lets get behind each other and kick some shropshire arse.

lol Is there a list of reserves for the squads? Im sure it said on the flyers on Sunday that some players would be reserves, just in case players were unavailable for hols, illness, etc... |
