ron please put matthew in his place. Re-racks for world rules do actually happen and are allowed lol. Not allowed indeed.

It is possible to have a rerack in world rules, but they are very rare. One example is, if you had the black ball hanging by a whisker in a pocket with a yellow and a red touching the black, and wedged in the jaws, any contact with red or yellow would pot the black. Then this game would end up a rerack. If both players know what they are doing, both players would simply DF  the white to the top, bottom or side rails depending which pocket is coverd. I think it is after three consecutive fouls by both players, they would rerack the balls.

Correct about re-racks PK,If the cue ball is as desribed by Laz you can play away from your own ball into the touching ball of your opponents legally as long as you meet the rest of the WR criteria.Munson?

At the begining of this thread i stated that as long as you play away from a touching ball which is "on" then it is not a foul. Even into another touching balll whatever that may be. So yes stan as long as other wr criteria met its ok.      As for re rack. It happened at the weekend in our 3 man match. As described by pk if you both have a ball on top of a black over the pocket the game cant progress because either would lose if they tried to get their ball out and so it becomes stalemate. Same person to break again. (which he did and dished. Quite annoying.)

why does a bowler need a manager !

Heres one for you -
Player A is on black and pots it in middle bag, the white travels round the table and nudges a red into the jaws - it hangs there for a few seconds then drops - whats the result ? Foul or replace red
Say it dropped after 1 second ?
                    after 3 seconds ?
                    after 5 seconds ?

Once all the balls have stopped rolling then it is game over.

When I was doing my Ref course, the tip was that as soon as the balls have stopped moving, and you have declared who won, you should move as quickly as possible to gather up all the remaining balls on the table, especially those hanging over pockets.
Two reasons for this - it reduces the chance of hanging balls dropping as mentioned above, and it also stops people trying to recreate situations where there was a marginal decision, e.g. if a gap was actually wide enough for the cue ball to get through.
