Mars Bar - Final word on this subject

When (IF) you ever win or achieve ANYTHING in the game, then I might give you some respect and that may be a time for you to challenge anyone, including me

So people have to win something, to achieve respect from you? How many Notts County players do you respect then? or Forest for that matter?  What a bizarre statement to make!!!

I know he can pot but hasn`t got any tactics at all

Danny Butler hasnt got a tactical game, would that make you favourite against him? Erm, no.
Tactics are just not that important now

Erm, I beg to differ Matt. Danny is still 100% in Superleague this year and at least two of those games were turned round from a "can't possible win" situation by using his tactical nouse. It's just that he rarely needs to resort to tactical play to win.

It appears the pooling folk of Nottingham are extremely perceptible . . . not one serious backer for Major Oak's new "star" signing!

What a bizare response !quite simply If he ever wins anything or if I see him play a good game or any single player tells me he is good then I might have some respect for him - but none of that has happened yet lol

I would certainly not back out of any challenge from him, think he needs to work on his all round game before he thinks about playing me that`s all. I`ll happily play for anything he likes - has been many years since I have played a money match, would be good practice

Matt - there is no denying that you are a good potter! what I am saying is that if you had a tactical game aswell - because the balls are not always there just to pot, that you would be a better player and enjoy more success. Steve Davis was a good potter but a brilliant tacticion which helped him win so many world snooker titles. Willie Thorne was arguably the best potter & break builder of his era but didn`t possess a good tactical game. The game is not just about potting - only when the balls are on!

Why does someone need to be good at at hobby (which, unless you actually earn money from playing pool, a hobby is all it ever is) to warrant respect from a fellow pool player. Apologies to Alan Gregory, but I will use him as an example.

Alan is, I believe, one of the most respected, and well liked pool players in Nottingham, but although Alan is a very good pool player (Chris told me) you don't see him winning tournaments! Does that mean he should be any less respected than Clint/Liam/Lee Pickard? Absolutely not...

I cannot comment personally, but judging by the comments on the forum, you seem a well respected player - I have no reason to suggest otherwise, but if our paths were to cross via a pool table, I would have the greatest of respect for you, and would hopefully receive the same in return.

Same goes with Justin, he enjoys nothing more than a bit of banter on the forum. He means no malice and shows no lack of respect to anyone, and if that ever happened we have moderators to ensure order is returned.

I personally have no grudge against anyone associated with Nottinghamshire Pool (even you Neil...) and would like nothing more than see all four county teams experience success...

It is after all just pool... nothing more, nothing less... There are much more important things in life to get stressed about, and until the day comes when you are actually playing for a row of houses, who gives a flying fcuk....

Glad to see we are singing from the same hymn sheet then. I think the respect for him was probably lost because of the comments he made on the forest v county page which were totally uncalled for but I`m sure that must just have been some of his enjoyable banter. I`ll take it all as that. I personally know there are more important things to get stressed about after my recent near death experience - makes you think about life a bit more.
Enjoy it whilst you can. I always repect every opponent I play and treat everyone as I would like to be treated. I too wish all 4 county teams the very best. Kind regards Tg

I'd back me against you tho guru lol

Wow you bit to this one harder than i thought  ;)
I've caught a whopper folks!!

In all seriousness i give every single player i play against plenty of respect, if you don't give me any respect then that's your problem.
I will agree i'm a potter, but i can play tactically sometimes, although i would say i'm inexperienced tactically. (I have made a singles final in Notts though, so i'm not a complete douche, despite what people tell me)

I think JP summed it all up perfectly, i'm just having a bit of banter on here, nothing more nothing less. Hopefully everyone sees it as just that and doesn't take offence. (Just ask Ron lol)

Peace

(Oh and if you wanted to play for cash i'd probably stump up a fiver tops)
