Notts B 20-24 Leicester B. Good quality game played in a decent spirit. Got off to the worst possible start (7-1 down) but then clawed our way back into it to 7-7, 12-12, 16-16, but could never get in front. Missed a few chances and they had the few bits of run in the decisive frames to clinch a hard fought victory. We will have em at there place!!!

actully an 8 1 start Jay. quite right about the team spirit mate, very happy with that side of it but regardless of that we need to do it on the table and we let them off the hook with missed chances. we have quality throughout and on the return leg we must set our sights on 24 legs then its all down to other matches in between. not the end of the world, good result v staffs reqd (goes without saying)

i'm confident we'll have a tilt at it this year but need to go up maybe 1 more gear. thanks lads, great spirit today though.

Yeah good game overall with the sprit, just the result that let us down, do think a draw would have been a fair result as both teams had good solid spells

Performance of the day has to go to Robbo's hop, skip and jump routine whilst shouting "Get in there" on a doubled black that he missed... To be fair it turned badly..... Made it very amusing for all concerned!!

You can always count on Robbo to brighten up the mood!!

Unlucky boys - As we said, the league isn't won or lost on this result.....

Roll on next month!!

Good call NK, must say that everyone was behind each other today and it was a pleasure to be part of a Nottinghamshire B squad with such unity

dont agree Loz (no offence) think we didnt show what we can do on sunday and with so many new players i think it will just take a couple of matches for players to acclimatise to the unique situation that is county pool. i am very annoyed about losing but you cant dwell on these things, we will def beat them next time because by then certain players will have come on and i think that is the best leics can do ! i am very excited about the squad we have and believe in every one of them.whats more as you say the craic was as good as ever and if you can have a good time win or lose that cant be bad (dont think i'll accept losing easily in future though lol)
any way Loz your more than welcome to matches as is anyone in notts who wants to lend support to the team so as i keep banging on about its a point a leg so lets get a big win under our belt on the 22nd of march against them puddings at west mids and send a message to the region that we are a wounded animal.

thats your opinion!!! and no offence taken!!! wish i was playing for you as i did enjoy sunday!!! but i dont think im the answer to the county B team!!! granted i have only see you once this season and having new people does not help as they do need sometime to settle in.

i know how county is run, just think in the first 2 set the team could have had a stronger 11 at the start!!!
people like brian, ron, dean howitt, matt did not start, they might have been poor last game but **** me thats 4 really good county players not starting!!!
and in my opinion they would have made the starting 11 better than the 11 that started!!!!
enough of me talking shit, good luck next match 44-0 would be nice!!

Slightly disagree with you Loz. I came down for a while on Sunday and was surprised to see Ron playing. I thought he was a non-playing captain - certainly his record of 4 wins and 10 defeats last season and the way he played in the final frame on Sunday would cement this assumption.

Also according to the stats, Matt Coates didn't get a game at all. Had he been disciplined for going to the pub with his Junior mates?

right lets try and put some things to bed.
firstly lets get one thing straight, the year before last i was second in the averages with something like 65%(as i had been for the prev 3/4 seasons) we decided to open notts pool up to anyone who thinks their good enough to try out for a place and be transparent(rightly so). this was done by trials and a number of players were retained, i at this point wrongly made room by trying to run the team in a non playing capacity(big mistake) however on 10 occassions i did fill in where we had problems but was not really focused on playing and yes my record over those frames was ****. this year i beleive my place in the team is completely justified(see prev years record including one year where i nearly got england trials from the b squad) so i would appreciate it if you judged me at the end of this season.also pity you didnt see me win my first frame which was a good solid tactical battle with a good finish by yours truly   (yes that second frame was a mare , we all have the odd one)
as for mr coates i am very happy he is in the squad i know how dangerous he can be ! he will get the same chances as everyone but sometimes all players will have to sit on the bench, i'm not here to give people games so when you play get the result and you will be on the sheet. now can we all just get behind each other and start getting the results.
(as for mr coates going for dinner ? whats all this Trev )
oh and good to have you back Trev, as i said on Sunday i was worried about you, youve been so quiet lol.

To be honest I dont see any complaints from anyone in the squad.

To be captain is a thankless task and you cant please everyone all of the time. All the squad players understand and accept that there will be times when they are sat on the bench and wont get a game, we also know that everyone's chance will come and if you win frames and take that chance you will probably be rewarded with a place in the next match.

I for one think Ron is doing a great job and is also a very good player, his experience counts for an awful lot when you are playing under the pressure of county level.

Keep doing what you are doing Ron.

Ron has been awesome for us this season at the Oak, he is unbeaten and so are we when he is in attendance, keep up the good work Ron
