Final Placings
1 Notts & District
2 Cherry Tree
3 Notts Open Premier Pool
4 Ollerton & District
5 Calverton & Arnold
6 Gainsborough
7 Vale of Belvoir
8 Eastwood & District
9 Chesterfield
10 Hucknall

Congratulations to Notts & District, who qualified for the k.o.cup for the second year running. Having strengthened
their squad for 2009, with new signings Dale Mayes, Marcus Langford and Steve Hobster, hopes were high as Notts
were paired with 2006 Interleague Champions Chesterfield. Captain Lee Thorpe would not be disappointed, as form
players Matt Coates, Martyn Rawson and up and coming youngster Curtis Bradley all secured four wins from four
games, to blow away their strong opponents 24-12, to secure a place in the last 4.

Cherry Tree Captain Steve Hill has revamped his side by adding ex Sun Valley big hitters Neil Jones, Chris Rigby and
James Hill, whilst capturing talented players such as John Harvey, Ryan Hewitt, Pat Kelley and Ron Sharpe, to add to
his regular squad. First opponents Vale of Belvoir were soundly beaten 13-5, whilst Vale recovered 6-0 down, to
force a super 9-9 draw in their match with Gainsborough. Gainsborough needed to beat Cherry Tree to go through as
group winners, but despite leading 3-2 early on, Cherry hit back by winning 9 of the next 10 legs, to run out 12-6
winners to top the group.

Calverton & Arnold skipper Trev Chambers, had high hopes of his own, after securing the signatures of highly rated
Danny Butler & Loz Sanderson, to add to a very experienced squad. Unfortunately for Calverton, they were drawn in
a 'group of death' with Notts Open PPL and Hucknall. Calverton were struggling against Hucknall early on, but they
recovered well to win 13-5. Hucknall then took a shock 4-1 lead against Notts Open PPL, but Jim I'anson's side showed
their class, by reeling off an astonishing 13 legs in a row to clinch a 14-4 win. That result meant that Notts Open only
needed a draw against Calverton, to clinch their place in the semis. The result was never in doubt as Notts Open
cruised to a 9-3 lead, with Ashley Radford beating Danny Butler to secure their place.

Ollerton took their place in the semi finals, after a comprehensive 24-12 beating of 'home team' Eastwood & District.
Ollerton boasted ex Internationals Andy Wilson and Nick Jones in their ranks, but it was Andy Bingham and Dave
Buckley that did the most damage, taking all 8 of their legs.

Notts & District were drawn to face Ollerton, knowing that a big win would give them a real chance of clinching 1st
spot, as Cherry Tree and Notts Open were paired together in the other semi final. Notts looked in unbeatable form,
and stormed into a 6-0 lead. But despite a mini revival by Ollerton, Matt Tugby killed them off by making it 10-5, and
his team mates then completed the job to win 11-7.

There was real drama in the other semi final between the top two sides over the last two years, Notts Open PPL and
Cherry Tree. Notts Open opened up leads of 5-2, 6-3 and 7-4, but Cherry Tree showed a lot of bottle to win five legs
in a row to lead 9-7. Jason Rimminghton beat Cherry's in form Ian Owen, and skipper Jim I'anson pulled off two
astonishing pots, will the black hanging the pocket, to force a 3 man play off. John Harvey promptly 8 balled Liam
Stanley, whilst at the same time, his team mate Clint I'anson levelled against Chris Rigby. All the attention turned to
table 3, where James Hill had to pot a tough long pot on the black ball down the rail to take the match for the Cherry.
Despite the pressure, the black went in, to hand Notts Open their 1st defeat since 2006.

Calverton & Arnold took 5th place, after proving far too strong for Eastwood, and strolled to a 13-5 win, whilst
Gainsborough beat Vale of Belvoir 11-7, after being pegged back to 6-6.

Chesterfield pipped Hucknall to 9th place on legs, after a miserable day for Steve Finnegan.

Thanks go out to Steve, Sarah and their staff, for once again providing excellent tables, and a great venue, and also
to all the players, as the day went very well, with no disputes to report.

Yes, but it's the Marquis boys this year Liam - and I'll get Big Bob to sit on you and Pickard. Least that might make it 7-2.......

Stan, Notts & District champ of champs has nothing to do with Interleague. You played March hare and they finished 3rd if I remember right but 2nd place team fell out the league so March hare was allowed to compete......

And yes it was 8-1 to your team of super stars who had alot of luck on the night, didn't miss and cleared up after every dry break, I think there was 1 or 2 8 ballers. Lucky sods...

It's normaly fans (armchair supporters more like) of teams that have had no glory that accuse supporters (season ticket holders)of teams that have had glory - thats what trophy rooms are for - of dwelling in past glories.
How do you dwell on future glories...
and his name I am reliably informed is Bertrandsmile/eek.gif
