Sad news the loss of vic leaper, one of the greatest players, to ever play calverton and arnold.Died on wednesday at the age of 74.He was chairman and treasure for many years in the league.Vic won the single in 1982,and he his the oldest player to win the league averages in 1998 at the age of 64 and won the league and cup many times.Vic was a real gentleman ,and never had a bad word to say about anyone.Vic was my pool hero and will be sadly missed by many.

RIP Vic Leaper, if ever there was a Calverton & Arnold legend, then it would be Vic. Probably THE gentleman of all time. Vic was simply brilliant & committed to pool in a big way, and was arguably the best chairman i have ever worked alongside in all my years in pool. His achievements in the game were simply stunning, winning the singles, playing for Nottinghamshire County & more... but his finest achievement for me would be winning the averages whilst well into his 60's, losing just one game all season up against some ace tallent. How many players around now could you see doing this in the future. If ever there was a time to give the singles a new name, then i am sorry but this is it. 'THE VIC LEAPER SINGLES'  Very upset about this loss, RIP Vic

I have had a word with Alan about nameing the singles after Vic, he is trying to do that. It would be great if the league did name the singles after Vic, because he was a true legend and the greast player to ever play in the calverton and arnold. Rip Vic

A real gentleman and a great player. Vic was one of the "old School". He will be dearly missed. All our thoughts are with his family.

My sincere condolences to all of the family.
Vic took me under his wing 20 odd years ago and introduced me to the Notts Singles League Interleague Team and then took me with him to my first County match away at Staffs in the mid 80s and never looked back. Played many seasons with him at the clock, Miners welfare, dragon and many others.
A true legend of the CADPL league, and what a gentlemen!
Rest in peace mate
Kind regards, Tony, Karen & Matthew Guy

A sad loss for Vic’s family I am sure.
I played with Vic at the Clock in the late 70’s and early 80’s, and the Cherry Tree in the mid 80’s, also County and Superleague as it was then. Vic was a great ambassador for Nottingham and the Calverton and Arnold league, everywhere we played Vic was known and respected.
A true gentleman and a great loss to Notts Pool, always a smile on his face and it was a pleasure to be in his company. – I’m sure he used to wear that blazer with the Notts badge on the beach!
RIP Vic.

Can someone post the funeral details please… or call/txt 07791082629 – cheers.

Very sad news to hear that Vic Leaper has died. He was a good friend and a great pool player. I really think that they should name the calverton singles competition in memory of him as he deserves to be remembered and honoured as the great player that he was. He would always get massive respect when he walked through the door from any team that he played against. RIP Vic, Dave Atherley.

My first ever league game in the early 90s was when i was playing for the Arrow. It was to be against Vic.I didn't know him and he didn't know me.After 45 mins of play i was victorious.Andy Hind(Arrow Captain)then took it upon himself to reel off Vics history in pool to me,i was elated having beat such a legend.Being my first match ever i thought 45 mins per game was the norm and to this day day i still blame Vic for all of my long games. My sincere condolences go to his family, top bloke.

What a sad loss, to hear about the passing of a great pool legend. He never liked to lose a game and would play a match until sunrise if it meant him winning.
A master tactician in his own right!

It would be fitting in his memory to name the CADPL SINGLES after him because of what he has done for the league both playing wise and on the commitee.

The good lord has got a great man with him now, until we meet again RIP Vic x chris winter

Thank you to all of you for your kind messages and thoughts.   The pool table and flowers which you brought to the funeral were wonderful and would have very much been appreciated by Vic.    He enjoyed his time immensely playing pool with all of you and the tributes are very touching.

Thank you all again from Jean and the family x
